My favorite time of year to visit Craggy Gardens is in the Spring. Spring comes late to this high elevation micro-climate and its not unusual to have freezing temperatures even in April and early May. But once these mountains wake from their slumber they become fully alive with beautiful life. Fiddleheads turn to ferns and in early June the purple rhododendrons burst onto the scene. I made several attempts to get good light at sunrise and sunset this year but was clouded out on all attempts. However the rhodos still put on a show! I’ve included one of my favorite images from a past year above. Enjoy!
